Volunteer at The Helix

Volunteering opportunities at the Helix

"It has brought me out of my shell as it is something I would not have considered being a part of initially as I felt it was way outside my comfort zone. In conclusion, though to be honest I have loved every minute" John, Helix Green Team Volunteer

The Helix welcomes volunteers throughout the year. We are now offering three volunteering programmes

  • The Helix Green Team
  • The Employer Supported Volunteering
  • The Helix Ambassadors

The Helix Green Team

The Helix Green Team is open to all on Tuesday morning and occasionally Sunday. If you are interested in some outdoor practical conservation volunteering within the Helix Park then this is the group for you. The parks staff enjoy planning, preparing and supervising these sessions with the volunteers. With all hands on dirt, we get so much more done and always see a real benefit to our mornings efforts. Plus we enjoy sharing out the delicious cakes prepared by Jason, the Visitors Centre Chef. Bring your enthusiasm, weather appropriate clothing and wear sturdy shoes.

No booking is required. Sessions last from 10am - 1pm. Meet us at the Pink bus stop by the Kelpies Car Park.

Employer Supported Volunteering

Are you interested in a day out of the office and in the park? Many businesses provide this support from their staff to charities such as ourselves through their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. The Helix are delighted to welcome one business per month the opportunity to have a fully supervised and planned day of volunteering with us. If you are interested please confirm this with your management then get in touch with us by completing the form below.

Helix Ambassadors

You could be part of bringing the best customer experience to the visitors of The Helix, home of the Kelpies. This is an outdoor public facing role, where you would be expected to proactively assist people in the park. You will receive training and support from The Helix team. It is important that visitors know all the different aspects they can enjoy whilst here. You will be representing The Helix, your town and your country for our foreign visitors.

We need you during school holidays. The shifts last 3 ½ hour on days that you choose. Because you are representing the helix, there is a selection process in place.

For more details and to register your interest for one of these three programmes, please complete the form below and Helen Morrison, the volunteer co-ordinator, will get in touch to arrange a chat with you.
