Muiravonside is Falkirk's only Country Park, providing 170 acres of stunning woodland and parkland, a mini demonstration farm, a sculpture trail and a children's play area.

The River Avon trail runs through the site, and the John Muir Way passes close by too, offering lots of opportunities for exploring the local area.  The John Muir Way can be accessed by following the wooden stairs from the river path up to the top of the impressive Avon aqueduct.

The Sculpture and Poetry trail added to the park in 2016 can be enjoyed by heading through the archway beside the main car park and then following the 'art in the park' way markers and map boards.

The park also has a great play area and two adventure trails featuring chunky wooden play equipment.

There is a small charge of £1 to park in the main car park – parking is free in the woodland car park.  If you are a regular visitor to Muiravonside, you can purchase an annual car parking pass for £50 – please call 01324 506850 to find out more.

We run a regular conservation volunteering programme which you can join at any time. We welcome everyone and you don't need any special skills, just enthusiasm, sensible outdoor clothing and an interest in improving the park. Please contact the Countryside Ranger to register your interest – Claire.Martin@falkirk.gov.uk

The Farm

We have a wide range of animals at the farm - these include:

  • Equine 'staff' - Charley and Jake the Clydesdale horses; the Shetland ponies - Robbie (a rescued Shetland pony we rehomed from the SSPCA), Teddy and Eddie
  • The fab four Donkeys - Birch, Harley, Partland and Pierce
Several breeds of pig – we have Tamworth, Wessex and Gloucester Old Spot
  • A small herd of Hebridean Sheep

The restored farm steading buildings house an assortment of smaller animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and exotic birds, whilst the nearby wildfowl pond and bird enclosures contain flocks of larger birds like chickens, geese and ducks.

Support the Farm

Newparks Farm is home to a wide collection of animals and as you can imagine a lot of food, care and attention is required to keep them healthy and safe.  Your support can help us cover the costs of upkeep and allow us to provide the best care possible for the animals.

If you'd like to support the farm you can now become a Friend of the Farm, and for only £20.00 a year you can make a massive difference to the animals’ lives!  In return we will send you a Christmas card and gift, plus an update at Easter, as well as inviting you to a special VIP guided farm tour in the summer.

For more information, please e-mail Claire Martin - claire.martin@falkirk.gov.uk
