Happy birthday, Emperor Antoninus
11 September 2012
The Helix is taking part in a week of events
celebrating Falkirk's rich Roman heritage.
Big Roman Week runs from 15-23
September 2012.
The annual festival marks the birthday of Emperor
Antoninus Pius (born 19 September 86AD) who built his
Roman frontier, The Antonine Wall, across Falkirk
district.
A number of events have been organised to help
people explore and enjoy their local history.
A full calendar of Helix-organised activities can be found in
our Events section. They're listed in date
order and include talks on the Roman Fort at
Mumrills by local historian Geoff Bailey.
Information about the full schedule of Big Roman Week family
events can be found at www.bigromanweek.org.uk.
You can also check out the information flyer (right) for further
