Fresh aerial images show canal progress
25 September 2012
If you've happened to drive on the M9
near junction 6 recently, have you wondered what's going on below
your wheels?
Well, it's all to do with the Helix. Our contractor
Balfour Beatty have temporarily removed two of the lanes to
construct the M9 canal tunnel as part of our canal link development.
This 80m tunnel will allow the M9 and the adjacent pipe
bridge to be bypassed to improve navigational access into the canal
network. It will also feature a tow path for travel on foot and
cycle into the canal hub area.
The canal is now excavated to its final depth. Balfour
Beatty are forming the area where the Kelpies will be sited, as
well as progressing well with the main canal hub car
park.
