The Helix hosted a visit by the Scottish Parliament’s Presiding Officer on July 16th.

The Rt Hon Alex Fergusson MSP was visiting the Falkirk area as part of a programme of public engagement visits during the Parliament's summer recess.

Mr. Fergusson was interested to learn about the local community’s ongoing involvement in the Helix development. After a brief trip to Lock 2 on the Forth & Clyde Canal, where he viewed the 1/10th scale models of the Kelpies, he travelled to the Dawson Centre in Bainsford to meet some of the community members engaged in the selection of an artist to design the Abbotshaugh Sentinel.

Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson MSP said: "The concept of community ownership was central in everything that I witnessed at the Helix Project and it is that sense of ownership and belonging which is sure to help make this a success."

Mr Fergusson was joined on the visit by Michael Matheson, MSP for Falkirk West.
