Residents view canal plans
Over 70 residents from the Glensburgh and Old Town areas attended a Helix drop-in day at the Dalgrain Community Hall.
Representatives from the Helix Trust, Falkirk Council, British Waterways Scotland and design consultants Ironside Farrar were on hand to discuss the latest project progress. Members of Grangemouth Community Council were also in attendance.
The residents were able to comment on all aspects of the Helix project, in particular the planned canal extension at Glensburgh which will take the Forth & Clyde canal back to its home in Grangemouth.
“It was a good opportunity for local residents to talk face-to-face with Helix representatives about various aspects of the project,” said Grace Macdonald, head of community engagement for the Helix. “While we have had two previous meetings, some residents were learning about the Helix project for the first time and were delighted to hear about the planned improvements that this opportunity provides.”
Grace added, “Anyone who was unable to attend the drop-in day is more than welcome to contact the Helix team through the website for information.”
