Community Sentinels
In addition to the Abbotshaugh Sculpture, other
community sentinels will be developed across the Helix, changing
the nature of the landscape and helping local people to connect
with the transformation.
Mumrills is next
Christian Barnes and John Kennedy have been working on the Helix
since 2007, helping to develop our community sentinels. These
permanent, site-specific arts projects will be positioned at the
two ends of the Helix project site.
After preparing the ground for the first sentinel project at
Abbotshaugh, Chris and John are now working on a second sentinel.
This sentinel will have strong connections to the Antonine Wall
World Heritage Site at Mumrills, exploring the Roman heritage of
the site and expressing its relevance and significance for the
community now.
