The Helix Beekeepers are a fully constituted group serving
beekeeping in the Falkirk area. Their main goal is to promote and
encourage bee populations across Falkirk.
The UK's bee population is currently under threat, so the group
aims to promote beekeeping and protect the species as well as
provide an exciting new interest for local people.
Get involved
If you are interested in being a Helix Beekeeper, or you are
able to host beehives on your land, get in touch.
Hosting beehives is a great way to boost the growth of plants or
crops in the area - bees can travel for half a mile in every
direction gathering and spreading pollen.
Hive of activity
The Helix Beekeepers, having completed five training workshops
covering all aspects of beekeeping, built their own hives and
established two apiaries in the Falkirk area.
The honeybee colonies arrived in early June and after what is
considered the hardest year ever for beekeeping, all the hives have
survived, and are bedding down over winter.
The Helix Beekeepers will be mentored for two years and
will become part of an ever expanding group doing their bit to
protect the bee population whilst diversifying local food.

Social Enterprise
In time, the Helix Beekeepers seek to form a social
enterprise, producing local products from Helix Honey to beeswax
lip-balm.
