Helix Vision
What will the Helix look like in
the future?
From ambition to reality
The Helix is a long-term development project built around a
number of cornerstone objectives:
- The landscape will be transformed into a place of delight, with
diverse habitats rich in wildlife. It will be fully accessible and
managed in a way that is sustainable
- People will enjoy coming to the Helix: it will be a major
visitor destination, also meeting local recreational needs
- Individuals and groups will be actively involved in meeting the
needs and aspirations of local people through the Helix
- Local communities and businesses will be proud of the Helix and
will want to be associated with it
- The Helix will be a valuable source of materials for a range of
enterprises, and also a vehicle for training and employment
People, place and enterprise
The themes of people, place and enterprise are at the core of
the Helix.
People
As a community project, the Helix enables local people to
realise their aspirations. Local residents, groups and businesses
all play an active part. Find out about the community groups that
are helping to develop the Helix and which community
projects are under way. Get involved as a volunteer or just find things to do.
Place
The Helix is a place with special qualities, destined to connect
communities, build new confidence and transform public perception.
As a sustainable new gateway to Falkirk and Grangemouth, it will
alter how people see these places. A new canal link and
boating facilities will improve access to and from the Forth
Estuary and Scotland's canal network. Go to Discover Helix
for more of the unfolding story.
Enterprise
The Helix will create opportunities for enterprise, training and
employment. A training and employment programme will be set up
during the construction phase to maintain the Helix greenspace.
Over time, these services will be extended to businesses in the
Helix area. The Helix Trust will develop a range of sustainable
services and products. Private and social enterprises will also be
developed to deliver a range of services and visitor
attractions.
