Creating the Canal Hub
A new landscaped area and improved facilities around the Canal
Hub will make this a hive of activity, especially once the Kelpies
are in place.
A stunning new Visitor Centre
Dundee-based architects, Nicoll Russell Studios, have produced
the winning designs for the new visitor centre.
Their proposals were selected by a panel of four
judges for their use of light, space and strength of visual
elements. The visitor centre will be located close to the Kelpies,
which will be a major draw for visitors from across Scotland and
beyond.

Transforming the Canal basin
Facilities at the Canal Hub will include a new boat turning pool
and a new lock at the Kelpies.
The development works will also include a new access road and a
visitor car park.
A major £13.5m contract has
been awarded to Balfour Beatty to construct the Canal Link.
Construction work is due to start this summer and the new
facilities will be completed in summer 2013.
