The Helix Beekeepers

The Helix is abuzz with activity!

Bees are immensely valuable to the environment, responsible for pollinating a huge variety of the plants that we benefit from in our everyday lives.

The Helix Beekeepers are delighted to welcome their newest bee adopters. Keen to become ever more involved with our project, Andy Scott - sculptor and designer of The Kelpies - and his wife Hanneke have become proud adopters of two Helix beehives.

Their generosity will add 10,000 bees split across two new hives to The Helix Beekeepers' apiary, allowing the group to expand their association and look after more bees. Andy and Hanneke's commitment will also offer more opportunities for training of new members in the art of beekeeping.

Andy and Hanneke will receive the first two jars of honey from their hives, with the rest being sold within The Helix to raise funds for the beekeepers to continue their work, when ready.

The Helix Beekeepers are an association of trained volunteers promoting beekeeping in the Falkirk area. Their goal is to boost bee populations across Falkirk.

You can sponsor one of The Helix Bees (or as many as you want) for only 20p per bee. This tiny donation means the Beekeepers can protect a tiny bee throughout the year, stepping in with assistance if the weather puts too many demands on our busy buzzy friends.
