Meet the Events Team!

Meet the Events Team!

Lyndy, our Senior Events Officer, tells us about her exciting role in planning events for the park and what's coming up over the next wee while.

Hello all,

I have been working at The Helix for a year and a half now but prior to this I have worked in events across Scotland since graduating in 2010. Events have always been a real draw for me; they are exciting, fast paced and we get to do something different almost every day. From Shetland ponies trooping through the park, Nicola Sturgeon popping in for a cuppa and chasing a turkey at Christmas, it's always changing! For me, events are experiences that we can immerse ourselves in and share with the people around us.

I work within a small team, there are two of us working full time and we not only organise and facilitate events at The Helix we also manage events at other Falkirk Community Trust sites, for example The Fireworks event at Callendar Park. It's a busy role! We count ourselves very lucky to be able to organise events on the beautiful parkland within Falkirk, plus we get to work within a passionate team of individuals and that makes it all the easier.

Our events programme aims to engage everyone in the community and those from further afield; we try to make it as diverse and imaginative as possible from Triathlons to picnics and everything in between.  This year is going to be busier than ever, the calendar is already packed with tonnes of different events and activities. Some of the highlights for me will be the Easter activities like the Robin Hood walking theatre and the Roman Run at Callendar Park. The Big Picnic is also returning for the second year and we are running a new event that we are calling HorsePower! (link to event pages on website).

What makes my job great: Watching the community enjoy our events and working with our amazing event volunteers.

What makes my job not so great: Scottish weather!

Well, that's it from me for now but if you are heading along to one of our events please pop over and say hello!
